Project Z E N
Project details
I am always a bit surprised by how often people are distracted during daily life by social media or their work. Just look around in the bus, train or city: it seems like there is always something to do! Our society is driven by pressure, comparison, and the need to achieve more and more. Is there still space for gratitude and awareness?
To respond to this feeling of overstimulation, I search to create concert experiences in which the audience can reconnect with the present and with themselves. This idea is closely linked to a Japanese saying I often return to: “I eat when I eat, and I sleep when I sleep.”
Inspired by Zen Buddhism and Japanese shakuhachi music, I invite the audience to become aware and to be fully present in the here and now, leaving all thoughts behind. I believe that it is through this sense of presence that music truly starts to speak to you.
Project Z E N offers a musical concept that explores the connection between Japanese Zen Buddhism and contemporary flute music. This project invites the audience to get acquainted with Japanese Zen, not with words but with sound. Through an immersive experience of different colors and timbres, the listener is guided towards a deeper state of awareness and presence, which is essential in Zen Buddhism.
Stay tuned for the first concert program of Project Z E N: A Shaku Introduction.
